DONALD G. WALTMAN
Lieutenant Colonel - United States Air Force
Shot Down: September 19, 1966
Released: March 4, 1973

I am the son of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn P. Waltman of Kellogg, Idaho. I was born
and raised in Kellogg and attended the University of Idaho where I received
a BA degree in Political Science. I married my high school sweetheart,
Marian Cook, have five wonderful children-two boys and three girls-and we
are still very much in love.

I entered the Air Force with an ROTC commission in 1955 and found my second
love-airplanes. I have flown the F-86D, F-102, and F-105.

I am very proud of the men with whom I served as a POW in North Vietnam, and
we all owe a great deal to the good Americans who supported us while we were
there. I love this great country of ours and would fight for her again
tomorrow.

Donald Waltman retired from the United States Air Force as a Colonel. He and
his wife Marian resided in Germany until his death. Don's daughter Nancy,
and his wife were present at the NAM POWs 98 reunion in Dallas. They
both now reside in London. Don's son, Clint, is now a Brigadier General.
