TAMOTSU SHINGAKI
Major - United States Air Force
Shot Down: August 19, 1972
Released: March 29, 1973

I was born on 16 March 1939 on the Island of Maui in Hawaii. I enlisted in
the USAF in 1957 after I graduated from High School. Received my commission
in 1961 through the Aviation Cadet program at Harlingen AFB, Texas.

I have five brothers and five sisters. My mother lives on Maui in Hawaii. My
father died in 1961. Six members of my family have served in the Armed
Forces. There has been at least one of our family in the service since World
War II to the present time.

December 1996
Tomatsu Shingaki retired from the United States Air Force as a Major. He
lives in California.
